XingGuo Road Villa

Located in the far end of a typical Shanghainese lane in the former French Concession, this 1930’s villa has been fully restored for residential use. Entering through a small patio, the ground floor boasts enlarged full height double glazed doors that flood the ground floor living space with light. The bare concrete floor and the exposed brick wall give this more public area a contemporary feel. This space is connected through a small pass through window to the new kitchen, lit from above by a new skylight.

Rising up through the second and third floors are several bedrooms and bathrooms. The old wood floors are original to the house, having been restored. The 2 bathrooms are entirely new, and decorated with a mix of Western and Asian cultures apparent. All rooms have new double glazed windows, helping to the interior spaces airtight. The third floor has another small terrace, giving this house a much desired outdoor space that is hard to find in this city.
